About

Hi, I’m Scott

I’m a solution architect, Microsoft MVP, and long‑time technology practitioner who’s spent most of my career working at the intersection of enterprise systems and real‑world business problems. I’ve had the opportunity to design, implement, and support large‑scale solutions across industries, always with a focus on making complex systems practical, maintainable, and valuable to the people who use them.

This site is where I step outside of slide decks and project plans to share what I’ve learned—what works, what doesn’t, and what I wish I knew earlier

My Story

From IT Manager to Enterprise Architect

My career in technology started long before cloud services and low‑code platforms were common. Early on, I worked hands‑on in IT operations, managing systems, software, and infrastructure for growing businesses. That foundation shaped how I still approach architecture today: understanding how decisions affect not just systems, but people, processes, and day‑to‑day operations.

Over time, my work evolved into enterprise consulting, where I helped organizations implement and extend Microsoft Dynamics solutions—including Dynamics AX and Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations. Those years in consulting reinforced something that continues to guide my work: technology succeeds when it aligns with how organizations actually work, not how we wish they worked.

Designing Solutions That Can Scale

Today, I serve as a Principal Solution Architect at Hitachi Solutions America, working with clients on large, often complex initiatives involving ERP, supply chain, automation, and the Microsoft Power Platform. I’m responsible not just for architecture, but for ensuring solutions are scalable, supportable, and aligned with long‑term business goals—not just the immediate project timeline.

A major part of my role involves mentoring teams, reviewing designs, and helping organizations navigate trade‑offs between speed, flexibility, and technical debt. These are rarely easy decisions, but they’re the ones that matter most over time.

Teaching, Sharing, and Continuing to Learn

Outside of client work, I’m deeply involved in the Microsoft community. I’ve been recognized multiple times as a Microsoft MVP (Business Applications) and as a Microsoft FastTrack Recognized Architect, honors that reflect my ongoing focus on learning, teaching, and sharing knowledge with others.

Writing and creating content has become a natural extension of my work. This blog is where I document real‑world scenarios, lessons learned from projects, and emerging patterns—especially around Dynamics 365, Copilot Studio, automation, and practical architecture decisions.

Why This Blog Exists

I don’t write to sell tools or promote silver bullets. I write because enterprise technology is hard, and much of the best learning happens outside official documentation. If something here helps you avoid a costly mistake, think differently about a design, or build something cleaner and more resilient, then it’s doing its job.
