A look at the new inventory on-hand mobile app for Dynamics 365 Supply Chain

Microsoft has released a new way to inquire into your on hand values in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain.  This is a new canvas app that can be installed within your environment that allows you to:

  • Search product inventory by entering a product ID or name.
  • Filter products and inventory by site, warehouse, location, batch, and default product dimensions.
  • Filter products and inventory by inventory status and inventory quantity range.
  • Specify your regular sites and locations to prioritize the search range.
  • Switch among legal entities to check cross-organization inventory.

Let’s take a look.

Install the App

The install of the app is very straightforward the instructions are located in this document Inventory On-hand mobile app.

Since it’s a canvas app security is controlled by the users security settings inside of Dynamics 365 Supply Chain.

Using the App

Using the app is quite simple after opening the user is presented with an item list that they can select to drill into the item in further detail.

At the top of the app there are various controls for filtering the data, viewing all of the on hand or just limiting down to a user’s site, and a few sorting options.

When a user clicks on the user photo at the top of the app they are presented with two additional options where they can change their legal entity and set their site and warehouse.  The site and warehouse fields are used on the main item page mentioned above.

Overall this is a really simple app, but if you are just looking to give someone mobile access to inventory on hand as they are walking around a warehouse this could be a good option to give a user.
